Kirkby Lonsdale Market is now open for face to face purchases
Westmorland Country Markets comprises individual markets situated in
Arnside, Kirkby Lonsdale and Ulverston
Ulverston and Kirby Lonsdale Country Markets will be representing Westmorland Country Markets at Country Fest at the Westmorland County Showground on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June.
Do come along and see us in the WI tent for a great selection of delicious produce. There will be treats and snacks to satisfy all diets and tastes including Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten Free, Dairy Free and No added Sugar. Both sweet and savoury produce will be available. Local Honey, jams, preserves and chutneys will be for sale too.
Our crafters have also been busy creating beautiful items including patchwork quilts, woodcraft, knitted and crocheted items, needle and wet felting, artwork, pottery, jewellery and photographic items.
Don't forget we're in the WI tent, there will be a warm welcome for you.
The roots of country markets go back nearly 100 years when the W.I.became involved in setting up co-operatives to sell surplus produce from soldiers returning from WW1. Over the years markets have evolved and are now a separate entity from the W.I. and operate under legislation of the Industrial and Provident Societies Act.
Country Markets provide a retail outlet for high quality homemade produce and an opportunity for people to benefit from their skills, be it as bakers, preserve makers, crafters or gardeners. Local food for local people and promotion of regional foods and crafts is the main focus of country markets.
The creation of a friendly atmosphere where both producers and customers are valued for their loyalty is important, and, that all have confidence in the produce for sale.
Westmorland Market Society is the umbrella for markets at Arnside, Kirkby Lonsdale and Ulverston.
